3 great discoveries of the day

3 great discoveries of the day

1. finding the yummylicious fep chicken rice aka man u fan uncle at tanglin mall food court after his shop mia-ed few years back! i can't believe i only saw him today after working there for some time! after talking to him, i found out that the shop's no longer around due to the high rental costs; he has partnered someone else to sell chicken rice here at tanglin mall which is different from the old one with the sweet black sauce AWW :(

2. realizing there's popeye at the singapore flyer! i was just craving for it the day before and planning to eat it when my mom comes back from china some time later. looks like there's no need to wait anymore! popeye anyone?

3. going to the night safari for the first time! i was there to accompany the company's indonesian guests who are in town for a couple of days. the place totally exceeded my expectations. when i arrived, the night life was already bustling with activity and the place was crowded with tourists and families. it was really happening with live performances by half-naked pseudo cavemen doing all that fire-blowing stunts etc and some funny-looking mascots walking around for photo-taking. perhaps the vip treatment extended to me made the experience all the more enjoyable. we were received with much hospitality upon arrival and served cocktails prior to boarding the gourmet safari express tram which served a 4-course dinner as we explored the safari. the food was alright but the entire experience more than made up for it!

coloured
Sunday, May 25 @ 4:03 PM

When I born, I black
When I grow up, I black
When I go in Sun, I black
When I scared, I black
When I sick, I black
And when I die, I still black

And you white fellow
When you born, you pink
When you grow up, you white
When you go in sun, you red
When you cold, you blue
When you scared, you yellow
When you sick, you green
And when you die, you gray
And you calling me colored??

sad sad working life
Wednesday, May 14 @ 8:43 PM

it's been a long while since i updated. reason one being i lost my usb cable so i can't upload photos from my phone to the com. other reason being there's nothing exciting to talk about of my internship, only expectations and disappointments. i thought i'd managed to rationalize my expectations and accept whatever tasks come my way in the name of "learning". but somehow the thought of having wasted almost 4 weeks doing administrative work and wasting a further 11 weeks doing more of such administrative work is just depressing. okay i can't say that i haven't learnt anything at all thus far but i can't say that i've learnt anything much substantial either. even the supposedly big project i'm involved in doesn't seem to require much of my assistance except for minor tasks. it's the same boring routine everyday - coming in to work, waiting for lunch and waiting for 6.30. perhaps the only interesting things at work are discovering little politics within the department now and then and hoping to see the play guy. i used to be so irritated when one colleague never fails to punctuate her sentences with "understand what i mean?" and "do you get what i'm saying?" when she briefs me on the menial tasks i'm supposed to do but now i hardly bother and stare at her with a straight face while waiting for her to finish all that longwinded talk and trying hard not to appear too disinterested and rude. i shall put up with all this for the time being (well done hui for doing well so far!) and i shall decide the next step after the project ends in two weeks' time.

disappointing grades
Monday, May 5 @ 2:22 AM

i seldom talk about grades but this sem's grades are seriously far from satisfactory. even after cursing some irritating prof (who shall not be named) for his irritating face and even-more-so irritating voice, i know i only have myself to blame at the end of the day for being lazy and careless. it's frustrating cos you know you could have done so much better. ohwells that's one big lesson learnt and next sem will a better one!
