a day of fun amidst the stressful study week.

week 14 has come by finally. it's amazing how fast time has passed and while i'm typing this, i can imagine myself doing so again some time next year. with the mad rush to meet report deadlines and study for the finals next week, it's no wonder everyone's plagued with flu/sorethroat/fever/eyebags and what not.
drink up, rest well. it'll soon be over.

sometimes it gets really disheartening to discover the ugliness of human nature. as much as one may try to believe in the inherent good of all man, time only proves to displace this faith we have in others. the things one does or does not, insignificant nevertheless, reflects much of one's character. it may be easy to defend and discount an incident with "maybe"s and "never mind"s for the first/second time; how do you explain subsequent incidents, which only challenges and gradually erodes away one's confidence in the person. so you say no man is perfect; does that justify one's deviation from the fundamental values central to one's character?

perhaps it's my self-imposition and assumption of values onto others;
perhaps it's my relentless pursuit of perfection (quoted from elvin) in everything - people inclusive, which readily picks out the flaws in others;
perhaps it's my ironic skeptism in human nature;

i can come up with many "perhaps"s to add to the list but whatever's done cannot be changed. it'll stay at that corner of your mind, waiting to be picked up some time in the future and proven in your favour, "see i told you so".

maybe it's best be less hopeful of others since they wld only disappoint;
maybe it's best to protect oneself and do unto others first what they wld otherwise do unto you;
maybe it's best to be selfish and do unto others what they do unto you;

photos from jia's grad ceremony last sat. it's hard to believe that she's finally graduated after being in the school for more than 10 years.

my mother fell down just a few days before the graduation and hurt her left eye, explaining the funky shades, which belongs to my sister btw lol!

photo with the distinguished (pun intended) guests. i was quite bothered by the entire elitism display during the ceremony. not to mention everyone had to arrive almost an hour early to be seated in anticipation of their arrival, imagine buffet lunch served right to their tables in porcelain plates, silvery cutlery and cloth napkins while the rest of us, graduates included, had to queue for our food outside the hall with paper disposable plates, plastic cutlery and paper napkins. i wonder who the real stars of the day were.

thanks to taking 3 mods and work being cancelled, i was at home for more days than i was in school the last week and i enjoyed every single bit of it! the joy of sleeping more than 10 hours each day and not having to wake up to the loathsome phone alarm screaming under the pillow, surfing and noggin for hours till i finally (yes, finally) became a lil sick of it and, not forgetting to study a lil of finance as well, all these at my own leisure :)
tomorrow marks the start of a new week. we'll see how it goes.
